Ayer se entregaron los Eclipse Awards por la temporada correspondiente al año 2009. Las yeguas Rachel Alenxandra , de 3 años, y la yegua madura Zenyatta ganadora del clasico Breeders's Cup Classic se disputaron el honor de ser seleccionadas Caballo Del Año 2009. Era la primera vez en la historia que 2 yeguas se disputaban tan importante distincion en el mundo de las caballos purasagre de carreras.

La ganadora fue la campeona Rachel Alexandra, quien gano importantes clasicos en forma sensacional contra machos y caballos maduros como el Preakness, Haskell Stake y el Woodward Stake en el 2009.
